Outdoor Space

About the space

We think our outside nursery space is probably the best you will see in the province.  It includes a large well-tended vegetable patch and purpose built raised beds for ease of the children to plant and cultivate vegetables and flowers. We often tell parents how their child has planted a sugar snap pea or a cherry tomato- nurtured it for months, then find them nibbling on it as though it were the most special treat. The parents stand amazed as they recite that same child regularly pushing the dinner plate away at home if anything green was placed on their dinner plate. We can tailor the menu to suit particular dietary or cultural requirements.

Where possible, however, we seek to introduce a broad range of food types and flavours by having a varied recipe plan. As the season permits we aim to introduce produce from our garden into the menu including home grown tomatoes, pumpkins, onions, broccoli, potatoes, peas, leaks and chives. We have ‘free range’ hens and banties that live in their portable ‘Eglu coop’ and get visited every day by the children and the eggs collected and used as part of the recipes on campus.
